Cool place to work – or the coolest?

If you’re The Ramey Agency, it’s the latter.

The Fondren-based creative firm has been named as one of the 2017 Ad Age Best Places to Work – for the third time.

 “We are honored to once again be named one of Ad Age’s Best Places to Work,” said Ramey CEO Chris Ray. “We are passionate about our work and we show up every day because we love what we do. We work hard to foster an environment of teamwork and creativity, which I think ultimately comes through in the end-results we give our clients.”

This recognition from Ad Age highlights Ramey’s focus on establishing a culture that enables collaboration, giving back to the community and creativity. Employee benefits include 40 community-service hours a year, staff massage therapist, monthly enrichment events (including wine tasting with a sommelier, desk yoga, still life drawing), along with multiple indoor and outdoor creative spaces.

“I sometimes get teased for saying that I don’t aspire for Ramey to be the biggest or best agency – but rather, I want us to be the ‘most special,’ Ray said. “To me, that means that our team is fully engaged, with a can-do attitude that is reflected in the smart work that we produce for our clients. And it means that our clients respond to that by returning to us again and again – and trusting that we have their best interests at heart.”

Talented people who could work anywhere they want? Ray said Ramey has them in spades.

“So how do you go about creating a culture where it feels like it’s not just ‘a job?’ That’s the kind of culture we are trying to build. The wine tastings and yoga classes and art classes certainly are part of that. So is our Reach Higher grant program. But I think it’s also about trusting each other to do our jobs.”

He added, “We are by no means perfect, but this team has each other’s back – and I feel fortunate to be able to work alongside them each day.”

Companies from across the United States entered the two-part survey process to determine Ad Age’s Best Places to Work. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking.

This survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in the Advertising and Marketing industries, benefiting the industry’s economy, workforce and businesses. The list is made up of 50 companies.
