Fondren Renaissance is pleased to announce the 13th annual Symphony at Sunset with a very special honoree this year. “A Highland Fling at The Cedars” will feature the full Mississippi Symphony Orchestra and will honor the late Elta Livingston. At once Fondren’s longest native resident, Livingston was recently featured in Find It In Fondren’s summer magazine.
The British themed event is set for September 19, 2013 at 7pm and will feature selections for everyone in the family, from Monty Python to Harry Potter, The Beatles to 007 and music from Jesus Christ Superstar. A bag piper will open the evening and Symphony Conductor Crafton Beck will lead his orchestra in a free concert, a gift from Fondren Renaissance to the community. Last year’s attendance was well over 2,000.
Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs and a picnic supper to enjoy under the canopy of 200 year old cedars and a “starlit” sky.
Reserved tables complete with dinner and drinks are available through corporate sponsorships.
The Cedars is located at 4145 Old Canton Road near the intersection of Meadowbrook Road and I-55 North and convenient parking is available across the street at St. Andrew’s Lower School.
This evening is made possible through Fondren Renaissance Foundation and the generous underwriting of their corporate sponsors, allowing this performance of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra to be free and open to the public.
For more information on this evening concert or to reserve a seating table with dinner, please call the Foundation office at 601.981.9606 or visit fondren.org.
A special thanks to Fondren Renaissance for this annual community event!
