Cups, an espresso cafe, celebrates twenty years in their Fondren location today. Anniversary events begin early Wednesday with free mugs of coffee (from 9am – 11am), free espresso from 11am – 2pm and a demo and samples of pour over coffee from 2pm – 4pm. Also slated for the celebration is 4pm – 6pm’s aero press demo and sampling and a 7pm cupping by Cups’ master roaster Shawn Rogers.

For a place that’s made a a name for itself by hanging local art and hosting live singers and bands, the day would be incomplete without live performances from Zach Lovett at 4pm, DJ Spirituals at 5pm, el Obo at 6:30pm, Simple Gulls at 7pm and Empty Handed Painters at 8pm.

Cups is featured in the summer 2013 Find It In Fondren Magazine. Jesse Crow wrote: “A factor in (Janice and Dennis Cameron’s) decision to become owners of Cups was their love of coffee and espresso, which grew through their travels. Janice said “We traveled a lot and always had a passion to go to small (coffee and espresso) operations of any kind because it’s artisan; it’s a hands on product. We’re passionate about coffee, music and art. What better than to own (Cups) and develop it and to use our vision and ambition to continue it?”
