The Jackson Chamber of Commerce is in Independence Day celebration mode early as it presents its signature event, “Red White & Jackson,” on Thursday, June 27, 2013, and includes both daytime (11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and evening events (7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.).
The free daytime event is sponsored by Atmos Energy and will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Smith Park in downtown Jackson. The event will feature live entertainment and free food. With an estimated attendance of over one thousand, the lunchtime event for “Red White & Jackson” presents a wonderful opportunity to celebrate downtown Jackson and promote a business climate favorable to economic and community development for the benefit of its residents.
The free evening event will be held from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Old Capitol Green (State and Capitol Streets). The “Red White & Jackson” evening event will feature performances by The First Baptist Church of Ridgeland Choir, the Anderson Sanctuary Choir and Ms Lannie Spann McBride. The event also includes a Celebrity Cook-Off, food vendors, crafts, face painting and space jumps for children, and tours of the Old Capitol Museum. First Responders including AMR, SMAT, JFD and JPD will be recognized and encouraged to attend. The evening will culminate in a spectacular fireworks display above the Old Capitol Museum.
