Someone’s turning 30 this summer. The Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame Watermelon Classic has been around now since 1983 and is a 4th of July family tradition. Through June 28, registration is just $20 per person for this year’s 5k race.
A challenging route and the Mississippi summer sun awaits participants over the course of the three plus miles. There will be three water stations, lots of watermelon, beverages and fruit at end of race, live music and the Farm Bureau sponsored Farmer’s Market with healthy food vendors.
A one mile wellness run for all ages and a tot trot for ages 3 & under (free) follow the 5K. The course begins and ends at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame. And over 165 awards will be given (the tot trot for ages 3 & under requires no registration.)
There is NO RACE DAY registration. Organizers encourage race packets be picked up prior to the race beginning June 27 at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum. There is a prize for best costume, voted on by participants. You must complete the race in costume.
Through 6/28/2013: $20 for 5K, $15 for 1 Mile Fun Run
