Sal & Mookie’s has teamed up with Parents & Kids Magazine and will host a silent auction as part of their sixth annual Children’s Carnival and they need your help to make it a success. Whether you donate items or place bids, you can know that all proceeds benefit Friends of Children’s Hospital. The carnival and auction are part of Fondren’s Zippity Doo Dah® Weekend March 21-23.
Marketing, Promotion and Event Planning Manager for Sal & Mookie’s, Liz Lancaster, says the silent auction is where the majority of funds are raised during their carnival. “Although the Children’s Carnival is for children, the silent auction gives parents something to do while their children are playing games,” Lancaster says. “It’s also another way for businesses to get involved and show their support for such a great cause.”
Like last year’s event, the silent auction will operate online. The auction begins February 28. Lancaster says they will publicize the generosity of their donors by posting every item online. “Each item donated will get an image, a short description write-up and a link to their website or Facebook page,” she explains. “The sooner you get your silent auction item in, the more traffic your item will get.” On the day of the carnival, all items will be featured during the live portion of the silent auction at the carnival site (behind Sal & Mookie’s on the Stadium green.
Donations will be accepted until Wednesday, March 20, three days before the carnival. Bidders can weigh in online until midnight on March 22. All items will then carry over into a live silent auction on carnival day on the green space.
Winners who bid at the carnival can pick up their items after the silent auction closes at 2 pm on March 23 at the silent auction tent. All online bidders who won will be contacted the next day. All items can be picked up at Mangia Bene, Inc. the week after the carnival.
