Fondren is an active neighborhood and two races to be held this fall will give you a chance to lace up and support great causes.

The Upton Tire Pros Sun King 5k Walk/Run and 1 Mile Fun Run will be held at St. James’ Episcopal Church on October 20. This is the 12th annual race, which was originally organized and run in memory of Ernest Davidson who passed away in 1999. Becaue Davidson was an avid runner and tri-athlete, family and friends could think of no better tribute than to organize a race in his memory. As in past years, funds raised from the Sun King 2012 will benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Run a 12K, run or walk a 5K, and enjoy a FREE kids’ one-mile fun run through the streets of Fondren on Saturday, November 17 with Good Samaritan Center’s 3rd annual 12k’s for the Holidays. Packet pick up will be held at Brent’s on November 15. The event is a fundraiser for The Good Samaritan Center, helping families in crisis for over 35 years. This race will benefit hundreds of families in need of food, clothing, and counseling in the Greater Jackson area.
