Color Me Rad, a nationally recognized 5k run and walk, makes its way to Fondren on Saturday, March 23, 2013 as part of Zippity Doo Dah® weekend. The run benefits Friends of Children’s Hospital and the patients of Batson Children’s Hospital.

Adults and children alike run or walk through Fondren to be “color bombed” at each kilometer! “The result is a neighborhood washed in a rainbow of colors,” said Jim Wilkirson, Fondren Renaissance Executive Director. The colored dust is made of FDA approved colored cornstarch, and washes off in the shower.

Online registration for the Jackson date begins in two weeks is now available at Participants must enter a special password, FONDREN, for 20% of their fees to be donated to Friends of Children’s Hospital.

A number of volunteers (age 15 and up) are needed in the effort. In lieu of being paid, their wages will be donated to the charity as well.

Color Me Rad was created by four friends who wanted a 5k that was more fun than pressure. Races are held in more than 30 cities across the U.S. and Canada. The event is being held in cooperation with Fondren Renaissance Foundation, Sweet Potato Queens, LLC and Jackson Convention & Visitors Bureau.
