September 2012 • by Jim Wilkirson, Fondren Renaissance Executive Director

Join the Fondren Renaissance Foundation for the inaugural Cedars Juried Art Exhibition at the Cedars. This widely anticipated show is sponsored by art enthusiasts Jan and Lawrence Farrington.

Entries were received from over 100 artists statewide amounting to nearly 300 works to be considered for this year’s event. The selection process was governed by Mississippi native and internationally acclaimed artist, William Dunlap. The final selections for this show resulted in an extremely powerful and diverse show of nearly 100 hanging and 3D works. Awards for “Best of Show” will be given during the Opening Reception.

All works included in the exhibition will be for sale and the show will hang in The Cedars Gallery through October 3, 2012. The Inaugural Cedars Juried Show is part of the Four Seasons of The Cedars Visual and Performing Arts Series and is free and open to the public.

The Cedars is located at 4145 Old Canton Road near the intersection of Meadowbrook Road and I-55 North and convenient parking is available across the street at St. Andrew’s Lower School. Gallery hours are Tuesday through Friday, 10am-4pm. For more information on this exhibit or The Cedars, visit fondren.org.
