It’s about this time every year that  the familiar cry rings out: order your Girl Scout cookies. And the cry comes loudest in Fondren from SE Lock & Key owners Jason and Kim Meeks. Active on Twitter at @fondrenlock, the call for preorders has been sent out many times in the last few weeks. Wife Kim says they’ll take them up until this weekend. And then? “Cases – and I mean cases in the shop for $3.50 a box by the end of the month” she says. Kim says they push so hard because of their daughter, a 15 year old student in the Rankin County School system. “Our daughter’s been a girl scout for seven years. If it’s important to her, it’s important to us”. Order your Samoas, Thin Mints, Tag-a-longs and Dosi-Dos, all popular varieties, and more from Meeks’ shop in Fondren.

Two-thirds of our nation’s most accomplished women in public service, business, science, education, the arts, and community life were Girl Scouts. And virtually every female astronaut who has flown in space got her start here. The organization turns 100 this year.
