The inaugural Jackson Restaurant Week will be held October 2-8 and Fondren restaurants are dishing up specials all week. Babalu Tacos & Tapas, Brent’s, Broad Street Baking Company, Fatsumo Sushi, Nick’s and Sal and Mookie’s are participating. Jackson Restaurant Week was inspired by similar events held in larger cities across the country in recent years as a means to promote area restaurants and support local charities and businesses.  In Jackson, diners will enjoy pre-set menus at each of the participating restaurants for the entire week.

But the major benefactor will be the charity that picks up a minimum of $10,000. During Jackson Restaurant Week, diners at participating restaurants will vote for the charity of their choice on official ballots presented at the end of their meal.  The charity with the most votes at the end of the week will be presented with a check. The causes that have been selected are the Alzheimer’s Association, Blair E. Batson Hospital, Community Animal Rescue and Adoptions (CARA), Parents for Public Schools: Ask for More Arts, and the Mississippi Firefighters Memorial Burn Association. Jackson Restaurant Week is hosted by Eat Jackson and presented by Hotel & Restaurant Supply in partnership with many local media outlets and other businesses.
