July 2011

Some are calling it The Four F’s of July. Others are calling it just plain family fun. Whatever you call it, you will want to be there: The Great Lawn at corner of Duling and Old Canton. There will be carnival games, a dunking booth, space jumps, cotton candy, watermelon, snow cones and the delightful Children’s Parade in Fondren. What’s not to like? So help your children decorate their bikes, wagons and strollers and follow our very own Dixieland Band on a march around the block.

Before and after the spontaneous parade, enjoy the children’s carnival brought to you once again by the member businesses of FAB (Fondren Association of Businesses). The carnival games remain free, but we ask that you bring a donation of either school supplies or canned items which will be distributed to local entities. If time runs out and you don’t have time to pick up actual items, there will be a jar for cash donations. With a family donation, children will receive an arm band good for unlimited participation.

While you are out, enjoy the gracious hospitality of our shops, galleries and eateries which serve up Jackson’s finest shopping experience. Open houses featuring new items to delight your senses await you in participating stores.  Fondren eateries will offer up delicious creations to tantalize your palette. And what is an After 5 in Fondren without music? Be assured that somewhere there will be tunes awaiting you.
