There is a new slate of offerings scheduled at St. James Episcopal in Fondren and the kickoff is set for Saturday with a community picnic! The church has planned the Neighborhood and Parish Picnic from 4-7 p.m. on the church grounds grounds off Oakridge and Hawthorne.  In addition, they’re partnering with Broadmeadow United Methodist Church for this occasion to help offer a “Books for Boyd” collection to help with JPS summer reading.  The picnic will have food, blow up jumpy things for children, and the two-time Grammy winning band, Brave Combo. Tickets are available for the cost of one summer reading book: the titles are Sheila Ray the Brave, Wayside School is Falling Down, and The Watson’s Go to Birmingham. Or you can make a $5 donation and St. James and Broadmeadow will get a book for you.  Make plans to join in the fun Saturday.

St. James is located at 3921 Oak Ridge Drive.
