Jackson native and ‘Help’ author Kathryn Stockett comes home Wednesday May 25 to sign copies of her New York Times best selling book and soon to be Dreamworks motion picture. The event takes place at 5pm at Lemuria Books in Banner Hall.

Stockett used the Greater Belhaven neighborhood extensively for the setting of her first novel, published in 2009. It is where Stockett was born, where her grandparents lived, and where she spent a great deal of time in her childhood. The story of The Help takes place in 1963, at the height of the Civil Rights struggle in Mississippi. Scenes for the August release are set in downtown Jackson and other neighborhoods like Fondren, where extensive cosmetic renovations transformed North State Street last fall.

Lemuria reminds you…if you buy one book at the signing on Wednesday, you can get one old book signed. No more than one old book may be brought to the signing on Wednesday.
