Mantle. will host the “StartupBus” on
Tuesday, August 1 Wednesday, August 2, as the annual competition rolls through town on the way to New Orleans.
“We will be hosting our StartupBus friends Tuesday night after 5 p.m. at Mantle. with beer, food and a live DJ,” says Mantle’s Christopher Lomax. “Come check out the buses and meet entrepreneurs from other cities as they head through ours.”
The Mantle stop is sponsored by Mantle, Innovate Mississippi and Mississippi Development Authority.
Billed as “equal parts hackathon, roadtrip and global community… designed to empower the tech community,” StartupBus, a global network now in its seventh year, seeks to “conceive, build and launch a startup in 72 hours.”
Wired Magazine says the StartupBus comes “as close to blood sport as Silicon Valley entrepreneurship gets.”
“By compressing the time from concept to prototype, it becomes a pedal-to-the metal business incubator,” they go on to say.
The StartupBus Network created companies such as Instacart, Branch and Sunrise.
