Twelve years after it began, Symphony at Sunset is still a favorite among Fondrenites and our neighbors. Presented by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi and Fondren Renaissance Foundation, this year’s annual concert on September 20 on the historic grounds of The Cedars will celebrate its 12th year. Begun as a “gift to the community” from the Fondren Foundation, this widely anticipated and award winning event signals the start to the fall season.
From patriotic to musicals and Elvis Presley to Michael Jackson, this year’s program has something for everyone. Our theme of “An Evening Under the Lights” will celebrate the new addition of Italian string lights to The Cedars compliments of our friends at Entergy.
Join friends and neighbors for this beginning at 7:00 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs and a picnic supper to enjoy under the canopy of 200 year old cedars and a “starlit” sky. Reserved tables complete with dinner and drinks are available through corporate sponsorships.
The Cedars is located at 4145 Old Canton Road near the intersection of Meadowbrook Road and I-55 North and convenient parking is available across the street at St. Andrew’s Lower School. This evening is made possible through the Fondren Renaissance Foundation and the generous underwriting of our corporate sponsors allowing this performance of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra to be free and open to the public. For more information on this evening concert or to reserve a seating table with dinner, please call the Foundation office at 601.981.9606 or visit fondren.org.
