Three Fondren establishments are in on the revelry this week as Raise Your Pints celebrates Mississippi Craft Beer Week.  This is the first time in the event’s three year history that RYP will celebrate with high gravity beer.

The first event is Monday, July 23 at 6pm at Brent’s Drugs. Throwback night will feature Pabst Blue Ribbon, Miller High Life and Schlitz among others. RYP will have a pair of tickets to give away for the July 28 Top of the Hops beerfest in downtown Jackson.A second event on the same night at the same time will unofficially help the neighborhood celebrate as well. Rescheduled from last Thursday night due to rain, The C Spire Wireless Summer Music Series at the Cedars at 6pm will feature beers Covington Strawberry, Shock Top Lemon Shandy, Diamond Bear Pale Ale, Back Forty Truck Stop Honey, Back Forty, Naked Pig and others. For a full list, click here. Though not a RYP event, the evening at the Cedars will undoubtedly find craft beer lovers celebrating as well.

On Tuesday, July 24, from 6-9 PM, Sal & Mookie’s PiE Lounge will welcome Lazy Magnolia’s new high-gravity beer – The TIMBER BEAST. Enjoy Lazy Magnolia Southern Hops’pitality or Timber Beast IPA in PiE Lounge for $5! Musician Tommy Burton will add live music to the night on the PiE Tunes Stage.

And on Wednesday, July 25, Sneaky Beans Coffee Shop will host a Yazoo Brewing Sampling from 6-9pm.

Craft Beer Week sponsoring organization Raise Your Pints claimed victory earlier this month as a new law took affect after years of lobbying and advocacy. That law successfully enacted legislation that lifted the state’s 5% ABW (6.2% ABV) cap and raised the level to 8% ABW (10.1% ABV).
