A neighborhood walking tour will be offered this Saturday with a focus on the architecture & history of Fondren. The event is guided by Jennifer Baughn and kicks off at 9AM. The walk will begin at the old Schimmel’s parking lot in the alley behind Sal & Mookies and proceed through the commercial district. Organizers say there’s no need to sign up; just show up! This event is accessible and welcoming to seniors and children.
The hour and a half long tour is part of Jane Jacobs Walk, a series of free neighborhood walking tours that helps put people in touch with their environment and with each other, by bridging social and geographic gaps and creating a space for cities to discover themselves. Since its inception in 2007, Jane Jacobs Walk has happened in cities across North America, and is growing internationally. Learn more about the mission of Jane Jacobs Walk at their website.
