Jackson’s only record store will participate in a national event this weekend that honors the very thing they are about: actual, physical RECORDS! Morningbell Records & Studios in Duling Hall will be open from 9am-9pm on Saturday, April 21, offering exclusive releases from your favorite artists from past and present. The newly pressed slingers of vinyl will have Record Store Day releases by Leonard Cohen, Joey Ramone, Devo, the Tallest Man on Earth, Genesis, Brendan Benson, David Bowie, the Clash, the Cult, Miles Davis, Patterson Hood, Janis Joplin, Odd Future, Iggy Pop, Lou Reed, Paul Simon and too many more to list. In store specials and performances by local artists such as Liver Mousse, Honeyboy & Boots, Hungry Mother and more will be announced on their Facebook event page. Plus, all used vinyl will be 10% off for the day.

The original idea for Record Store Day was conceived by Chris Brown, and was founded in 2007 by Eric Levin, Michael Kurtz, Carrie Colliton, Amy Dorfman, Don Van Cleave and Brian Poehner as a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally.
