It’s fair to say Fondren temporarily relocated south this weekend – to downtown Jackson – for Saturday’s Appetite For Jackson. The event brought large, diverse crowds to the heart of the city for celebration. Appetite, an event put together with just a few short week’s notice, was an overwhelming success with 4,500 in attendance on a brisk January day. The Travel Channel’s Andrew Zimmern filmed for an episode of his show, Appetite For Life, where Jackson will be prominently featured. Food plates, tee shirts and beer – all donated – were sold and raised thousands for the Miracle League, a charity near to the late Craig Noone’s heart.
Here, Fondren’s Byron Knight, the day’s sound engineer and talent wrangler, was adjusting mics for the Southern Comfort Brass Band. Knight was called “one of the pivotal players in making sure Appetite ran smoothly.” For more photos from the day, visit our partner, Jackson Convention and Visitor’s Bureau.
