Millsaps College junior and senior art students are getting a taste of what life as a “real life artist” is like with the hanging of their work this week at a Fondren coffee shop. Six seniors and two juniors of the college’s arts seminar course will show work at Sneaky Beans now through January. Senior Sue Carrie Drummond says the exhibit is putting in practice what you do when you leave college, teaching about presentation and giving a student a gallery experience. Sandra Murchison, Professor of Studio Art & Chair of the Art Department tells us each student comes up with their own ideas, process and materials. There are eight bodies of work represented from digital prints to photography, painting and sculpture. Drummond says the works are for sale and each artist will be a part of a reception during Fondren Unwrapped on November 17.
