It’s game day in Fondren as the Jackson State Tigers kick off their season against Concordia today at 1:30pm at Veteran’s Stadium. Business owners are excited about welcoming fans to the neighborhood and say they are happy to do what they can to make it a great experience. Sal & Mookie’s owner Jeff Good, whose business is one of the closest to the stadium said they always experience an uptick on game day. “We have a great place to meet before the game for a drink and some wings or to celebrate after the win with pizza and cocktails”, he told us. He said one of the best ways to roll out the purple carpet is in the form of discounts. “Restaurants can fly the JSU colors, offer Tiger cocktails and offer specials for game day eating,” something his pizza joint does for every home game.
As a reminder, traffic will be on the increase on State Street as game time approaches and then after the match up. It’s important to slow down, exercise common sense and courtesy and plan for a bit of extra time if you are out and about. The JSU game schedule can be found here.
