While the Jackson State University Tigers have called Fondren home for some years now, we officially welcome them to Jackson’s hippest neighborhood™ in September. The Tigers will bring football to Veteran’s Memorial Stadium beginning September 3 as they take on Concordia at 1:30pm.

As you may remember, we told you in March that Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour signed a bill into law giving JSU ownership of the 61 year old facility off State Street. The bill took effect July 1. Mississippi’s only urban university, located in West Jackson, took over for the previous owners, the Mississippi Department of Finance and Administration.

JSU’s 2011 football schedule is as follows:

09/03/11 vs. Concordia (Selma, AL) at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium 1:30 p.m.
09/10/11 Tennessee State at Memphis, TN 6:00 p.m.
09/17/11 at Southern Baton Rouge, LA 6:00 p.m.
