Many new paintings have ‘come to light’ and this fall, they will be the focus of the Four Seasons of the Cedars fall art show. ‘Outdoor Splendor’ features the Plein Air Artists of Mississippi showing recent works including images of the historic Fondren District. Their opening reception is September 8 from 5-8pm. In May, we talked to Plein Air artist and former Fondren resident Susan Wellington who told us the goal of the painters is to capture the light and paint the scene as quickly as possible. Their group is made up of  Joe Anna Arnett, Catherine Becker, Jettie Bradley, Grace Buchanan, Linda Dees, Ellen Dudley, Terri Herring, Theresa King, Donna McVey, Ella Jane Putnam, Jerrine Querrin, Vicky Ramsey, Karen Spencer and Wellington.

The show will also include ceramic artist Susan Clark and copper artist Terri Dalriva. Also included is a special showing of recent works of rising 5th and 6th graders from the Fondren area who participated in art education programs supported by the Fondren Renaissance Foundation throughout the spring and summer. This show is presented by Trustmark Bank in cooperation with FRF and is part of The Four Seasons of The Cedars Visual and Performing Arts Series. The exhibit will hang through September 30. Gallery hours are Tuesday – Friday, 10am-4pm. This is a free event and open to the public.
