‘The Hottest Festival in Town’ celebrates its seventh year with a night of fun for the whole family on August 13 from 5:30pm – 9:30pm! Bright Lights, Belhaven Nights is an end-of-the-summer Belhaven tradition that celebrates all things that make the area special including art, music, children’s activities and food. Once again named as a Top 20 Event in the Southeast for the month of August by the Southeast Tourism Society, the festival begins at McDade’s parking lot on Fortification Street and continues down Carlisle Street to New Stage Theatre, turning on Kenwood Place and extending into Belhaven Park.
A Blues Stage celebrating Mississippi’s indigenous music and an even bigger Children’s Area are new to the festival this year. Festival goers will also find five stages of live music including blues, jazz, Celtic, indie rock and acoustic music, a children’s area with space jumps, arts & crafts activities, games, and clowns, and food for sale from Greater Belhaven area restaurants. There will also be merchants and artisans from Greater Belhaven and the Belhaven Market selling a variety of items including foods, arts and crafts, a silent auction of signature festival artwork and raffle of items from area merchants, and drinks including water, soft drinks and beer will be for sale
Admission is $6 for adults and youth 13 and older and $1 children 12 and under. Free parking will be available along Belhaven streets and in the parking garage adjacent to Baptist Health Systems Medical Arts East at the corner of North and Carlisle Streets. The Fondren Express Trolley will offer shuttle rides throughout the neighborhood.
