It’ll be a nearly full week of signings at Lemuria Books at Banner Hall over the next four days with events slated for today through Thursday. Today, the independent bookseller hosts Danny Duncan Collum who will sign copies of his novel, White Boy, at 5pm. Set in the summer of 1961, White Boy tells of black and white Freedom Riders from all over the U.S. who converged on Jackson, Mississippi in a campaign to force the desegregation of public transportation and public facilities. The book depicts the world seen in the 2009 best-seller, The Help, but from a grittier working-class perspective. A reading for the book takes place at 5:30pm.

On Tuesday, Lemuria hosts Preston Lauterbach, author of The Chitlin Circuit And the Road to Rock n Roll, who signs at 5pm and reads from his book at 5:30pm. Wednesday’s event is the signing and reading of Don’t Kill the Birthday Girl: Tales from an Allergic Life by Sandra Beasley at 5 and 5:30pm. Finally, Thursday will bring Cameron McWhirter to Banner Hall with his book, Red Summer, for a signing at 5pm and a reading at 5:30pm.
