It’s almost time again for the annual WellsFest at Jamie Fowler Boyll Park, just east of Fondren on Lakeland Drive. That event is set for September 24. But before the big day, it’s WellsFest Art Night, Tuesday September 20 at Duling Hall in Fondren. Art Night is free and includes refreshments and live music. The preview party begins at 5:30 p.m. and the live art auction at 7 p.m.
“The annual art auction that is a part of WellsFest will again have its own venue this year,” said Sherree Allen, chair of this year’s WellsFest. “This way, the art auction is not competing with the festival’s music. Having a separate event from the festival allows art patrons and WellsFest supporters to enjoy WellsFest Art Night on Tuesday before the festival. Then come to the festival on Saturday and don’t worry about juggling your love for music and art!” Both the art night and the festival are free.
All proceeds from WellsFest Art Night will go to the Mustard Seed, a local non-profit that strives to help adults with developmental disabilities fulfill their potential. One of the art pieces to be auctioned is the ceramic bowl from which this year’s WellsFest logo was taken.
