Artist Richard McKey has been chosen as the commemorative artist for this year’s Zippity Doo Dah event, this weekend in Fondren. McKey’s piece was created for the Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital, the recipients of fundraising efforts from the weekend. The artwork is described as a “moving piece that reflects the spirit of Fondren while expressing the joyful innocence of children.” Presentation of McKey’s art will be made on Saturday at 5pm to Dr. Blair E. Batson, parade grand marshal, in front of Brown’s Fine Art and Framing. But you can see the piece all week long at Fondren Art Gallery, 601 Duling Avenue, in Fondren.
